Remember when I mentioned the little challenge I’d be sharing with you today?
Friends, I’d like to challenge you (and me!) to pack a healthy lunch for work or school for just two weeks.
Only two weeks. That’s 4% of a year.
But. Two weeks can make an awesome change in your diet.
Packing a lunch is cheaper and healthier than going out to lunch every day. AND, if you typically skip lunch, actually eating a healthy lunch will help you power through your day without that afternoon slump getting the best of you.
I’ll be doing the challenge, too. So If you’re in, I’d love it if you’d snap pics of your lunch using #twoweeklunch and share them on Instagram, Twitter, and/or Facebook. That way, we can all encourage, motivate, and inspire one another, all while eating delicious and healthy lunches. Win-win.
questions you may have:
How do I make this work for me?
I’ve been reading The Power of Habit recently, and the author talks about a “habit loop.” Cue -> Routine -> Reward. Or, put in “human terms:”
-When it’s Sunday afternoon, I’ll batch-cook lunches in order to have healthy lunches for work all week long.
-When it’s a weeknight, I’ll pack my lunch for the next day in order to save money by not going out to lunch tomorrow.
Kinda cool, right? And, I’d assume that, by starting this challenge, you might want to create a routine/habit of packing a healthy, filling lunch for your work or school day. This is a proven way to do it! When it’s ____, I’ll ____ in order to ____.
Why two weeks?
I thought a month was kind of long, especially with the craziness of back to school coming up. And one week isn’t really enough to try and form a habit. And #twoweeklunch is a cool hashtag…not gonna lie.
Am I doing this alone?
Nope. You’ll have at least one person doing it right there with you (me)! You can track my progress on my Instagram account if you’re interested, and then use #twoweeklunch on Instagram, Twitter, and/or Facebook to see the progress of others. And feel free to share this post to get your other friends involved!
If you’re willing to give packing a lunch for just two weeks a shot, leave an “I’m in!” in the comments section of this post. Then you can come back here and report how you did and how you felt!
I’m really seeing this as a whole High School Musical “We’re All in This Together” thing. I’m going to be doing it, and you’re [hopefully] going to be doing it, too. Cue musical interlude.
Where can I get some recipe inspo?
Glad you asked! I actually just posted an Easy Vegan On-the-Go Lunch Recipe Roundup post that I think might tickle your fancy. Also! I started a Healthy Lunch Ideas Pinterest board that I’ll add to throughout the next two weeks. :) Also x2! I’ll be sharing some savory recipes in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for them!
So, when does it start?
The challenge will start on Monday, August 22 and end Friday, September 2, and weekends will be freebies. That means that there are only TEN lunches you need to pack to complete the challenge like the lunch-packing superstar I know you are.
But this doesn’t mean that as soon as the challenge is over, packing a lunch is over. I came up with this challenge to try and show you that:
- Packing a lunch is actually pretty simple if you do a bit of planning
- You’ll feel better, have more energy, and save more money at work or school when you pack a lunch
So hopefully, you and I will continue with this “challenge” long after September 2. *fingers crossed*
We can totally do this. Two weeks. 10 epic lunches.
What do you say, friends? Are you in?

Sounds like a great challenge. I get free lunch where I work, but I’ll challenge myself to have a different healthy lunch each day. Can’t wait to follow along!
