Oh, Saturday. You could not have come at a better time!
I was traveling for work this week, and it was the first time I had ever been in Texas. Destination: Houston. Guys. Houston is AWESOME. The houses are gorg. The cars are stunning. The weather was perfect. The people are out-of-this-world nice. It’s a fantastic city to visit.
But boy, is it good to be back. I am happily enjoying my own bed, my own kitchen, and time with my own boyfriend this Saturday.
Although I’m seriously loving being home, I have quite an exciting week to share with all ya’ll. So without further adieu, may I present A Week in the Life of a Food Blogger!
First, will you LOOK at this. LOOK AT THIS CAT. I CAN’T.TAKE.THAT.FACE.
On Saturday, Mark and I went to the animal shelter juuuuuuust to look at all of the cuteness. We were both obsessed with this little guy, who cozied up and totally zonked out in my arms (swoon). We later found out that this cutie was on hold for someone else. Womp womp.
I made Mark a hugeeee batch of cranberry almond granola to munch on during the week. I based it off of this recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction!
Mark and I toasted our last night together with some homemade mojitos! I’d love to make a fall-themed mojito, but the only think I can think of is pumpkin and…um…ew.
It’s sort of a tradition of ours to take a picture together before I leave for a trip. Aren’t we adorable? (See this post for further proof ;))
I usually find enjoyment from flipping through the SkyMall catalogue. This time was no exception.
So, I landed on Sunday around 6 Pittsburgh time. By the time I got to the rental car, got to my hotel, unpacked, and oriented myself in this new city, I was freakin’ hungry. Luckily, Whole Foods came to the rescue.
We at a local restaurant called Chuy’s for lunch the following day. I’m a huge salsa fan, so I’ll literally take every opportunity to shovel some Mexican food in my mouth. I was shocked to see that they had Guacamole Tacos on the menu! I obviously had to order them, and now I really want my version.
I snapped this beautiful pic of the city as the sun was setting. So so pretty!
So…Chipotle happened. I don’t know if it’s different ingredients or what, but I feel like it had SO MUCH MORE FLAVOR than it does back in Pittsburgh! And sometimes when I order the medium salsa back home, it’s like blow your face off hot. It was much more manageable here, and it really had a great, fresh flava!
Oh, do you know the fun vegetarian hack at Chipotle? Order a veggie salad, bowl, burrito, whathaveyou, and you get guac…fo’ free! Yes, please.
We stopped at Whole Foods again for some hotel room snackage. We pulled into the parking garage, and it looked like something out of a sci-fi movie; they had lights to tell you where the empty spots were. Guys, technology is freakin’ cool.
La Croix needed to happen. This coconut flavor slays.
And this salsa. OHHH MY GOODNESS. I could write sonnets about this salsa. It’s so fresh and flavorful and…on sale?! Perfect.
I also grabbed these babies (also on sale) for salsa-scooping purposes. I’m obsessed with the flavor and texture in these guys. I seriously want to try and recreate them for the blog. Interested?
And finally… 9:43 AM on a Friday, and my dad and I are talking about BURRATA ice cream. WHAT.
How was your week? Do anything super fall-themed? Tell me about you life!

I will be heading to a Kroger’s next weekend…I’ll definitely have to give your fav a try! I’m always in the mood for trying salsa :)
I actually understand hatred to avocados – they definitely have an acquired taste and texture!
