I’m just going to throw it out there: food is SO much more delicious when eaten from a bowl.
I don’t understand why, and I don’t understand how. But throw the same ingredients on a plate and then in a bowl, and I’ll pick the bowl every.dang.time.
Maybe it’s the curvature of the bowl that allows the flavors of its contents to be combined ever-so perfectly. Maybe it’s the fact that my fork and spoon naturally and effortlessly glide around a bowl’s bowed edges. Or maybe it’s the fact that every food looks infinitely more beautiful when placed inside a curvaceous bowl.
Am I crazy? It’s entirely possible. Do let me know if that’s the case.
BUT I’m pretty sure my love of bowls is part of the reason why I eat a giant bowl of oatmeal every morning for breakfast. That big, warm hug-in-a-bowl is something I look forward to the moment I open my eyes in the morning.
Yes, I’m serious.
My morning: open eyes – think about breakfast – do everything else. In that order.
Welcome to a quick tour of the inside of Alexa’s head.
Hot Mess City right here.
But recently, this little number has been on my mind 24-7. Who knew a self-proclaimed quinoa non-fan would be so gosh-darn crazy over it for BREAKFAST?!
I mean, it’s packed with my favorite things ever: cinnamon, fruit, nut butter, chia seeds, almond milk…THE WORKS. It’s pretty spectacular.
…she says so humbly.
I lovelovelove peaches in the summer (unlike the rest of my family who is totally peach-adverse…I KNOW), so we’re caramelizing it up with some maple syrup. Add it to a bowl of cinnamon-spiked quinoa and top it with some nutrient-dense toppings like almond butter and chia, and you’re well on your way to a breakfast bowl that’s fit to nourish and satisfy all summer long.
I am beyond excited to be guest posting on my friend Lindsay’s blog, The Lean Green Bean. This girl can COOK IT UP (these Gluten Free Sweet Potato Brownies are pretty much my dream come true!), is ridiculously sweet, and is so incredibly inspiring. I just love the food blogging community so much; it’s so much fun to be able to bring readers together!

Erin @ The Almond Eater says
Food IS better in a bowl (you’re not crazy) and fruit is always better caramelized ;) Love this.
Alexa [fooduzzi.com] says
Fruit should always be caramelized. It’s basically an unspoken rule. ;)

Totally sending this recipe to my sister! She loves peaches with everything! Usually, we will grill them over summer :)

Alexa [fooduzzi.com] says
:D TOTALLY. I walked into TJs and they had all of their summer stone fruit up front. I broke down and bought a thing of nectarines which are my true favorites of the summer :)

Beverley @ Born to Sweat says
i used to be all about the plate life because i hated when things touched. now i just make sure everything i’m eating will ‘go good’ together so it doesn’t have to be an issue =P
Also soo pumped it is peach season! love buying the little baskets of them from the farmers market
Alexa [fooduzzi.com] says
haha I totally get that – I’ve known some people who hated their food to touch! I don’t get it, but to each their own I guess!
Emilie @ Emilie Eats says
I have been LOVING the peaches/cinnamon combo lately! I actually packed peach cinnamon overnight oats for breakfast at the airport (gotta stay prepared, right?). I love that you caramelized the peaches; sometimes it’s really nice to slow down in the morning and really create something extra delicious.
