Hi! Long time no talk!
I’m coming off of a one week blog and social media break, and holy moly was it awesome. I had time to clean the apartment, to learn a programming language, and to celebrate my little brother’s 21st birthday (yeah, I’m officially old).
I’m a huge advocate for mental health days. I’m so go-go-go all the time that I sometimes just need to take a step back and chill for a hot second.
It was an especially good week for me to take that mental health week because we were a bit under-the-weather this week. The weather has finally started to change, and I think it kinda got the best of us. Don’t get me wrong, I just adore this time of year and this cooler weather, I just don’t think my body was quite ready for it.
Enter: Feel Good Turmeric Latte. Hey, girl, heyyyyy.
I whipped this up on a whim because I thought it would get us back to feeling…well, good. It’s full of so much goodness, you can’t not feel freakin’ amazing after sucking one of these down. Not to mention they’re a source of delicious fall flavors during these cooler fall nights. It’s just so warm and cozy!
I chose each latte ingredient for a special feel-good purpose:
Turmeric: The trendiest yellow spice of all! We seriously love this stuff in our house, and it’s loaded with nutrients and health benefits. Anti-inflammatory properties, cancer prevention, immune health…this stuff has everything.
Cinnamon: My favorite spice ever. Not only does it deliver a sweet and spicy flavor to this latte, it’s also a source of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and heart health benefits. Plus, it’s just not fall without copious amounts of cinnamon in everything and anything, so into the latte it goes!
Ginger: I spent most of my life totally ginger-adverse. Thank goodness those days are over. I’m a huge fan of the spice and bite ginger gives foods (see this recipe if you’re a ginger fiend like me!), and for someone like me who has had digestive issues for like…ever, ginger is a fantastic thing to keep on hand for some gastrointestinal relief.
Coconut Oil: Obviously. It can’t be a “Feel Good” latte without this wünder oil! Not only does it add a rich and luscious texture to this latte, it helps with digestion, it improves skin, and it’s full of antimicrobial properties. Holla.
Honey: You can choose any sweetener you want here (maple syrup, coconut sugar, cane sugar, whatevs), but whenever I’m feeling a bit under the weather, I always reach for the honey. In fact, I had a friend in high school who would take honey “shots” (aka. shooting some honey directly from the squeeze bottle directly into her mouth) whenever she was feeling a cold coming on. With honey in this latte, we’ll have some anti-inflammatory and antioxidant goodness coming our way, so I always opt to add a bit.
We are just so smitten with this latte! And the best part is that you can work it into your morning coffee or tea routine; simply brew a few ounces of coffee or tea and pour this luscious, frothy latte on top.
Better than Starbucks. I guarantee it.
Feel Good Turmeric Latte
Prep: | Cook: | Yield: serves 1-2 | Total: |
A homemade latte filled with feel-good ingredients that will keep you feeling awesome this fall! Naturally gluten free and vegan.
You'll Need...
- 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric
- 1/8 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. coconut oil
- 1 tsp. - 1 Tbsp. sweetener of choice (I really like honey)
- optional: 1-2 oz. hot espresso or strong hot tea
Directions
- Add almond milk. cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and coconut oil to a small pot. Heat over medium-high, whisking frequently, until it boils. Add sweetener, whisk to combine, and remove from heat.
- Pour into a french press. Insert the press and quickly push it down, then pull it up continuously for 15-25 seconds, or until the latte is frothed to your liking. I like a lot of froth, so I do this for the full 25 seconds.
- Add optional espresso or tea to the bottom of a large mug, and then pour frothed milk into the mug. Don't lift the press while you're pouring - it'll strain out the grainy spices. Enjoy immediately.

I still haven’t tried a turmeric latte. There is something about it that freaks me out. Yellow milk? I dunno.

I finally scored a french press at TJMaxx and ran home to make this tonight. I am loving it on the couch as I type this. It is yummy and warming. I feel like a princess. I will make this several times a week as a healthy treat. My husband appreciated it as well. Thank you!

I have been wanting to try something with golden milk for a while but I was too afraid! This definitely helped and it was so delicious and easy! I don’t have a French press but if you blend it up in the blender you can still get some froth on top!
