Okay! So we did the whole traditional affogato thing yesterday.
Now we’re dipping into…slightly unconventional territory.
It’s kind of funny that I’m sharing a week of affogato recipes tbh. I cannot scoop a perfect scoop of ice cream to save my life.
Seriously. Look at this mess. And this monstrosity. They’re delicious, but I mean really?! How freakin’ hard is it to scoop a perfect scoop of ice cream?!
Apparently very. Because I was a hot mess during this affogato photoshoot trying to get my ice cream to form perfectly photo-ready balls. I tried scooping it straight from the container, then I let it soften and dumped it all into a loaf pan, thinking it would be easier to scoop. Oh no. It made matters worse.
SO although it looks like we’re dumping matcha on top of an ice cream blob, please know that the effort was made.
And please know the flavors are equivalent to the “raised hands” emoji.
This Vegan Matcha Affogato was definitely was my favorite of the four affogati I’m sharing with you this week.
The flavor of Matcha is rather…grassy. There’s really no pleasant way to say that. But when it’s paired with a vanilla bean ice cream/gelato, I swear it’s like magic.
It becomes this rich, sweet, totally devourable mixture, and I honestly couldn’t get enough of it. It’s almost sweet and a bit savory if that makes sense. I know that sounds weird, but I promise you it’s perfect.
And then with the sesame seed sprinkles on top! So cute, right? Plus, that little extra crunch is everything.

Vegan Matcha Affogato with Sesame Seeds

A fun vegan twist on the Italian dessert! Requires less than 5 ingredients and is ready in minutes.
You'll Need...
- 1 scoop vegan ice cream/gelato (I recommend vanilla bean)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/4 tsp. matcha
- white + black sesame seeds
Directions
- Scoop your ice cream into a bowl and stick it into the freezer to firm up a bit, about 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat up your almond milk in a small pot on the stove. Once hot, add matcha and whisk well to combine.
- Pour matcha over your ice cream and top with sesame seeds. Enjoy immediately.
