So are you ready to talk about THE most millennial drink ever to exist?
Chances are that you’ve heard of the “Aperol Spritz.” It was the unofficial official drink of 2017, and I feel like it’s even more popular this year.
It’s slightly sweet, slightly bitter, nice and refreshing for your summer festivities, three ingredients, and, let’s be serious, a perfectly Instagram-able color.
But the first time I tried one, I felt pretty meh about the whole situation. And mostly because it was too sweet.
CRAZY, I know because ya girl has a sweet tooth. But when it comes to boozy beverages, I like them bitter, strong, and not super sweet.
I typically only drink on the weekends, and even then, I’m a one and done kind of girl. I hate the head-spinning, headache-having feelings that come along with too much alcohol, but I do like to partake. Especially in the summer.
THIS is my summer drink. The Aperol Rosé Spritz.
Tasty, simple, and delightful when drank in the sunshine. Let’s do it.
So…what’s a spritz?
Great question. A spritz is an Italian wine-based cocktail that’s made up of three ingredients (and in the following ratios):
- Three parts prosecco, a sparkling Italian wine
- Two parts Aperol, an Italian aperitif (affiliate link)
- One part seltzer water, bubbly water
It tastes like a sweet-yet-bitter orange, if that makes sense. So imagine the rind and the flesh of an orange all in one bite.
But remember I said it was too sweet? That was because of the prosecco.
Dry rosé, on the other hand? Totally where it’s at.
Instead of the classic recipe, we’re adding:
- One part dry rosé, pink wine
- One part Aperol
- Seltzer to top
You can add as much or as little as you like here; that’s the beauty of measuring in “parts.” I like going with 3oz. rosé and 3oz. aperol so it’s like a 6oz. glass of wine, but you do you.
My family went bonkers over this recipe! In fact, they all said they liked it more than the OG Aperol Spritz. And they actually drank them in Italy.
Try the Rosé Spritz, friend. I’m deeming it the drink of the season.

It sure looks beautiful and I love the glassware. I will have to mix me up one of these.
