Are Mark and I the only ones who make meals out of chips and salsa? Crunchy chips + spicy salsa = euphoria.
Please tell me this is the norm for 20-somethings this day in age.
As far as I’m concerned, this perfect combination is a simple go-to on a busy night. While it may not be the most nutritious meal, Mark and I are always the happiest of folk after indulging in our unconventional supper.
Salsa is just one of those addictive toppings that I love to use for everything. A dip? Check. A sauce? Check. A dressing? Check. A topping? Check. A snack in and of itself? Check check check! I will eat salsa on everything and anything.
A weekly run to the grocery store nary fulfills my intense salsa needs, so I needed to resort to a new tactical move that would guarantee a spoonful of salsa within an arm’s reach at all times.
Say hello to the most delicious tactical move there ever was: Homemade Hot Salsa. And as an added bonus, it is SO SIMPLE to make!
Seasonable vegetables, fresh flavors, and an addictive, mouthwatering spice, this Homemade Hot Salsa will fulfill all your mealtime, snack time, and any time needs.
So, can we talk about how freakin’ delicious summer veggies are?! Is there anything more satisfying than slicing open a juicy tomato, sprinkling it with salt, and indulging in the best that summer produce has to offer?
Well, yes. But it only comes in the form of Homemade Hot Salsa.
Our mixture is a simple conglomerate of raw vegetables you’d find in a traditional hot salsa: tomatoes, sweet onion, jalapeños, serranos, garlic, and cilantro. I opted to add a nice chunk of refreshing cucumber to tame the spice a bit, and just a touch of cumin really brings these flavors together.
It’s truly incredible how just a few flavors can be highlighted in such a way during the summer months. If this Homemade Hot Salsa isn’t proof that eating seasonably truly delivers the best flavors, I don’t know what is!
I’m calling all the salsa lovers to the yard with this Homemade Hot Salsa because it is such the versatile recipe:
- Use it on your very own Better-than-Chipotle Burrito Bowls!
- Pair it with a homemade Pineapple Guacamole!
- Mix it into the Ultimate Vegan Dipping Sauce!
- Eat it plain – it seriously is THAT GOOD!
I can’t wait to hear how you use this Homemade Hot Salsa! But you may want to make a double-recipe; this stuff may or may not have lasted all but two days in my house…

I really like how you said that you can use salsa as a dip, sauce, dressing, topping, and snack! My teenage daughters love chips and salsa, so it’s nice to read this recipe. I’d also love to find a hot Mexican salsa to buy for us to snack on.
