Howdy ho, readers!
Have I got a surprise for you. :)
So, with it being September and all, we are in the midst of the most wonderful time of the year:
- September: apple-picking, apple cider, cinnamon-spiked tea
- October: pumpkin-picking, pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin candles…pumpkin everything
- November: Thanksgiving, pecan pie, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes
- December: Christmas, Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, New Year’s champagne
This time of year, man. Nothing beats it.
Did you notice something about that list though? This is literally the 4-month stretch of maximum food consumption. Whether it’s bowls of hardy winter meals or platefuls of baked goods and desserts, I feel like there is a constant inflow of food everywhere I turn. Am I alone in this observation? Or can we all agree that the term “fall” is just a shortened version of “fall off the bandwagon”?
Indulging in all the foods has become part of the fall and winter experience. If I’m not in that constant treat yo’ self mentality, then I feel like I’m missing out in fun, and, more importantly, taste.
However, it begs the question: is there a way to stay on-track with my lifestyle goals without feeling totally left out of all of the deliciousness that this wonderful seasons have to offer?
Answer: Yes.
