I think it’s safe to assume that part of the difficulty of choosing whole foods is convenience.
Just walking to class, I pass a ton of cafes offering sugary caramel macchiatos, bigger-than-my-head-sized muffins, and cookies loaded with chocolate and candy. It would be convenient to grab one of these items to happily chug or munch on during class. And honestly, that was my routine freshman year.Read More
Like one of my favorite bloggers once said, “Pretty food tastes better.” Well…most of the time.
I was out for a professional lunch and one of my fellow young professionals decided to order beef carpaccio, a raw beef dish, as his entree. Pretty fancy for our age group, but I respected his gumption. The dish came sliced ultra thin, laying on a circular plate, looking like something Pollick might have whipped up in the back. While beautiful, the sight definitely turned my stomach.Read More
Remember when I was talking about my love for the show Parenthood? Well, the real reason why I even started to watch it in the first place was due to my immense love for Gilmore girls. Lauren Graham, the wonderful actress who played Sarah Braverman on Parenthood, stared as clever Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore girls. I have re-watched every GG episode multiple times (in fact, I’m working my way through the series yet again. Rory just graduated from Chilton. Tear.) T.G.F.N. (Thank God for Netflix)
I like to think I’m as witty as Lorelai and Rory, and I sort of have that blue eye, brown hair thing going on. From the first time I saw an episode, I wanted nothing more than to become a Gilmore.Read More
I’m really not the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day.
I just never really saw the point for this holiday. If you truly love the one you’re with, don’t you think that every day should be treated like Valentine’s Day? Do you really need a special day designated for niceness and thoughtful gifts? A single date per year that you decide to bring home flowers for a loved one or choose to have a romantic night out?
Great. Now I’m sounding like my mother.Read More
I’ll admit it. I’m a hipster foodie.
Um, first and foremost, #kalefordays. I throughly enjoy, and actually prefer, anything served in a mason jar. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated after my green smoothie in the mornings. I would take a bath in Sriracha and gladly drink my way out. We have already discussed my devotion to the humble chia seed. I could have Cruciferous Vegetable Night (a la Sheldon Cooper) every night of my life in the way of brussels sprouts. I frequently sprinkle hemp seeds and flax seeds on my fruit. Almond milk is my spirit milk.
We’re going to knock a few of those out right here, right now.
Grab your thick-rimmed glasses. It’s about to get hipster up in here.Read More
Do you go to the gym? I have the luxury of a pretty swanky gym here on campus, so I’m trying to take advantage of it more this semester than in semesters past. I really appreciate the classes they offer – I’m seriously trying to get into yoga because I don’t have a bendable ligament in my body. I tolerate it, but I’m not in love with it, you know? But I do adore spin classes. Like. Love them. They have a way of totally clearing my mind and making me sweat out all of my anxieties and stresses.
It’s a beautiful, hot mess of a thing.
And I mean “hot mess” in the most literal way possible.
Can we talk about how incredible breakfast food is? If you’re like me and prefer sweeter breakfasts, breakfast time is basically an excuse to eat dessert first thing in the morning, full of fresh fruit, warm whole grains, and bright green smoothies. How can that be a bad thing? If you like savory breakfasts, there are so many different directions one could take their delicacy – eggs, avocado, salsa, spices…the works. I am convinced that breakfast foods are simply the best, and yes, I realize that I sound a lot like this guy:
