I have a weekend full of green baking and cooking in store for me! Which I’m totally excited about because, I don’t know about you, but when I’m eating green things, I always just feel healthier.
Well, almost always. *shudders*
Kale, spinach, avocado, broccoli, brussels sprouts…there are SO many green ingredients that I totally crave whenever I feel out of sync with my health goals. One too many tortilla chips, one two…too many glasses of wine…you get me.

Who had a fun NYE?!
Mark and I had some friends over, we played some games, ate some food (I made my Smoky Black Bean Dip ❤️❤️❤️), and brought in the new year with lots of happiness and cheer.
And wine. Always wine. ?
So naturally this morning was a “let’s rebound after the indulgent holidays” kind of morning. And I resorted to my old whole food standby: smoothies.
Liquid nutrients, fiber, vitamins, and protein whirled together to create a dreamy, creamy nutritional powerhouse? I’ll take it. I’ll take it every dang day.

One, because I know ye who are in search of some healthy eating tips will benefit from it. Two, because I’m greedy. I struggle with staying on track so much during the holidays. When there are so many decadent dishes and delicious desserts on the table right in front of me, how can I not indulge this time of year?! And that’s coming from someone who actively tries to eat as many whole foods as possible all year long. But I’m here today with a few tips to help guide you through the holiday season by making healthier choices whenever possible.

Holidays are the time were indulging is at its peak; nobody wants to say “no” to those tempting Christmas cookies. I’m currently getting cozy on the couch with a giant glass of green tea (with a splash of almond milk) next to my groovy boyfriend. Can life get any better than this?
If you read my Thankful Thursday post, you’ll know that I have been in Texas throughout the week. I came home on Thursday, so I was able to have a wonderful Friday night in with my main squeeze consisting of Thai Peanut Burrito Bowls and wine. I feel like I’m a bit of a broken record because we seem to have this kind of night all the time. But if you try those burrito bowls, you’ll understand. Oh boy, will you understand.

Howdy! I’m coming at you from the great state of Texas yet again.
Travel has been hard. Granted, I’ve only been at this for two weeks in a row. But being away from the comfort of my own bed, kitchen, and boyfriend has really taken its toll.
It’s incredible the simple things I take for granted, like being able to make tea whenever I want. Sleeping on the best pillow in the entire world. Having my boyfriend wrap his arms around me after a particularly rough day.
You know what else has been difficult? Eating. In the land of all-things beef. And BBQ.
There literally are no restaurants around me that are conducive to my eating style. There’s a Jack-in-the-Box and a Taco Bell across the street. Not much else. I kid you not.
Another thing I take for granted? The Aldi right across the street. Oh, and my fridge. My sweet, sweet fridge.
When life starts going a little wacky, one of the last things on my mind is what I’m thankful for. It’s SO counter-intuitive; when my life seems crazy out-of-control, I should be grounding myself in the things I love most. The things I can always count on to cheer me up or to help me realize just how lucky I am.
As the holiday season grows closer, I find my stress at new highs. Gift-buying, special post-planning, keeping up with a whole foods diet-ing…the holiday stress is real. During the holidays, I definitely lose sight of what’s important in life. I get so lost in the hustle and bustle and holiday “cheer,” that I actually forget to give thanks for all of the good in my life.
This is why I decided to change it up this Thursday and make a list of 50 things I’m thankful for at this very moment. I hope that it can encourage you to make a list of your own. Feeling zany?
