Fooduzzi was always a figment of my imagination. “How cool would it be to have my own blog?” is what ran through my head as I poured over pages and pages of Oh She Glows, How Sweet It Is, Sally’s Baking Addiction, & Edible Perspective. Getting to write about something you’re passionate about? And having people actually read it? It all sounded too good to be true.

Moms are awesome. My mother is absolutely nuts, but it keeps things interesting.

In all honesty, I am ridiculously lucky to have a mom as wonderful as mine. She’s smart, hilarious, and the best role model I could ask for. And she has always given me some kick-butt advice.

For example, when I was younger, she was helping me study for a state capital test. You want to know how I still remember the capital of Kansas? She told me that you don’t want someone TO-PEK at you while you’re on the KAN (For all of you playing along at home, Topeka is the capital of Kansas).

Tis the season for those little brats who come to our doors and tempt us with those addictive chocolate/coconut/caramel cookies, those better-when-frozen chocolate/mint wafers, and those I-could-eat-1000 oatmeal peanut butter sandwiches. But I’m allowed to call them “brats” because I was one of those brats.

I think it’s kind of ironic that I went into business school after my lack of entrepreneurial prowess in the Girl Scout cookie trade. I always capitalized on my mom and dad bringing the order form into work and getting their co-workers to support their hard-working Girl Scout daughter. The Hipster’s Smoothie

I’ll admit it. I’m a hipster foodie.

Um, first and foremost, #kalefordays. I throughly enjoy, and actually prefer, anything served in a mason jar. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated after my green smoothie in the mornings. I would take a bath in Sriracha and gladly drink my way out. We have already discussed my devotion to the humble chia seed. I could have Cruciferous Vegetable Night (a la Sheldon Cooper) every night of my life in the way of brussels sprouts. I frequently sprinkle hemp seeds and flax seeds on my fruit. Almond milk is my spirit milk.

We’re going to knock a few of those out right here, right now.
